CYNTHIA MAKARA ART
Cynthia works with an encaustic medium, which is a combination of beeswax, damar, and pigment. The paint is melted on a warm palette and applied to a warm surface. Each layer is fused to another using a heat gun, torch, or tacking iron. Additional layers can be added almost immediately. Once the surface has cooled, the paint reaches a permanent finish.
Cynthia’s work is inspired by the beauty of nature, capturing pleasant and inspiring moments fuelled by the beauty of western dusks, dawns, forests, mountains and prairies. Her paintings are peaceful and relaxing. They represent the glory of the sky and its magnificence. The ability to master a multi-layered approach creates unique combinations and views based on different levels and angles of illumination powered by the damar resin content.
