ARTROPHY
We are Neil and Tracy the spirited team behind Artrophy from Okotoks! ARTrophy is all about turning “disability” into “possibility,” blending our unique strengths to create something truly magical. Our art embodies a harmonious blend of perspectives, bridging the sighted and partially sighted worlds. Painting side by side on a single canvas, we alternate brushstrokes, weaving our visions into a seamless tapestry. In this collaborative process, individual boundaries dissolve, revealing a unified story that celebrates our shared reality and collective experiences. Neil’s eye condition, Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy, inspired the playful name ARTrophy. Just add one letter and new possibilities unfold!
Our paintings are our love letters to the world, especially the Rocky Mountains, our favourite playground. As nature lovers, we channel the beauty of the outdoors into vibrant, playful acrylic paintings that exude joy, innocence, and freedom. With exaggerated colours, whimsical shapes, and funky patterns, we reveal the familiar in delightfully unexpected ways. Painting helps us find inner peace and discover stillness amidst life’s chaos. Our journey is full of twists and turns, but art is our guiding star.
Fueled by a passion to prove that limitations are just in our minds, we use our art to spark conversations about inclusivity, collaboration, and the beauty of being unique. We’re self-taught artists who left the classroom after years of international adventures and unexpected detours. Though we’re no longer teaching, our learning never stops. This is just the beginning of our story, and there’s so much more to explore. If we’ve tickled your curiosity, come along for the ride! Our backstory will take you to places you never imagined.
